Caliper Life Sciences gets $2.9M EPA testing award
Caliper Life Sciences Inc. said Friday it received $2.9 million from the Environmental Protection Agency for further testing of chemical compounds.
Caliper said it is participating in the EPA's ToxCast screening program, which aims to find tests that can predict how toxic a chemical compound will be to humans and animals. The current phase will involve a wide variety of tests on 700 more compounds, Caliper said.
Caliper develops technology used to create new drugs. It said it has been awarded a total of $4.7 million from the current phase of the program.
In midday trading, Caliper stock was unchanged at $4.40.
