Eye care and surgical product maker Cooper Cos. on Thursday raised its earnings forecast for fiscal 2010 to a range of $2.50 per share to $2.60 per share, excluding one-time items.

Previously, the company forecast income of $2.45 per share to $2.55 per share.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect earnings of $2.55 per share for the fiscal year ending in October.

Cooper forecast revenue of $1.11 billion to $1.17 billion for the year, compared with analysts' estimate of $1.14 billion.

Shares of Cooper Cos. rose 83 cents, or 2.2 percent, to close at $37.96.
