Shipments of g-sensors are expected to expand substantially by the end of 2010 and total revenues generated by MEMS parts are likely to reach NT$100 million (US$3.11 million) in 2011, the company estimated. Domintech is currently outsourcing the production of g-sensors to a Japan-based foundry house using 6-inch wafer starts and handling the backend packaging and testing processes by itself, the company said. The company also plans to venture directly into the production of 3-axis gyroscopes, bypassing 2-axis models, as the unit prices of 3-axis products have dropped to below US$3 which meets market demand, the company noted.
