Hospital operator Health Management Associates Inc. said Friday it named Alan Levine as its new senior vice president of health development operations and government relations.

The appointment is effective Aug. 9.

Levine most recently served as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and senior health policy advisor to Gov. Bobby Jindal.
