Diagnostic DNA test maker Gen-Probe Inc. said Monday that it elected former Cytyc CEO Patrick Sullivan to its board of directors.

Sullivan, 58, was president and CEO of women's health product maker Cytyc from 1994 until 2007, when the company was acquired by test maker Hologic Corp. He was the company's chairman from 2002 to 2007. He is also a director of medical instrument maker PerkinElmer Inc.

Gen-Probe said there are now 10 directors on its board, and eight of them are independent.
