Mesa Labs buys Apex biological indicators business

Mesa Laboratories Inc. said Tuesday it acquired the biological indicators business of Apex Laboratories Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Lakewood, Colo., company, which makes instruments and disposable products for healthcare and industrial applications, expects the deal to immediately contribute to earnings.

Mesa said it will move the Apex business to its SGM Biotech division in Bozeman, Mont. Biological indicators are used to ensure that conditions in enclosures are appropriate to achieve a proper level of decontamination.

Mesa shares climbed 57 cents, or 2.2 percent, to $26.25 in afternoon trading.
