HAYWARD, Calif., Dec. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Solta Medical, Inc. (Nasdaq: SLTM), the pioneer in fractional resurfacing and non-invasive skin tightening and a market leader in aesthetic skin treatments, today announced it has shipped its one millionth tip for the revolutionary Thermage and Fraxel devices that have helped to build the foundation of Solta Medical and transform the aesthetic medical device industry.

The milestone reflects how much the aesthetic medical device industry has changed in the past decade.  The introduction of non-invasive devices like the Thermage's radiofrequency technology system in 2002 and Fraxel's fractional resurfacing laser in 2004 gave physicians popular, new options that provided patients effective results without the risks and downtime associated with surgery.

"The shipment of our millionth tip represents another important milestone for Solta Medical. With this achievement, Solta has demonstrated once again its leadership position in the market through the growing acceptance of our Thermage and Fraxel product lines," said Stephen J. Fanning, Chairman of the Board, president and CEO of Solta Medical, Inc.  "We see other unmet needs in the aesthetic treatment continuum and we will continue to introduce new, safe, innovative anti-aging solutions to deliver the best possible results with non-invasive aesthetic treatments."

"Solta helped to transform aesthetic devices - with its deep roots in rigorous science - providing state-of-the-art technologies used to treat patients who sought effective, comfortable therapies," said Roy G. Geronemus, MD, Director of the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York.  "There was a large patient base that sought more effective solutions than they could get from topical treatments but were either concerned about the cost or downtime associated with surgical procedures.  Solta
