Electronic health records work getting done, but questions remain

In 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was signed into law, earmarking $85 million to modernize health records, with the goal of improving health-care efficiency by making it easier for patients and physicians to access health records electronically. So, after almost two years, what do we have to show for it?

According to Ray Campbell, executive director of the Massachusetts Health Data Consortium, not much — yet. “All the preparatory work has taken up most of the past two years, but the funds are getting ready to flow. Now the hard part starts.”
