Medical technology company Kinetic Concepts Inc. said Monday it acquired TechniMotion Medical, which develops patient handling systems for acute and post-acute care. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kinetic, which is based in San Antonio, said TechniMotion products include lifts for out-of-bed and seated transfers or to help a patient move from sitting to standing. It also makes a reclining bedside chair that allows transfers to a bed to be performed over a patient's mattress.

Kinetic said the products will be marketed through its Therapeutic Support Systems division. The company pegged the U.S. medical lift market at about $220 million annually and said it comes with "significant future growth opportunity."
