EMD Millipore, the Billerica life sciences unit of Merck KGaA, is growing its microbiology business, courtesy of Merck’s newly acquired microbiology business of Biotest AG. Merck announced the acquisition today, and Millipore discussed its involvement with Biotest in a separate news release.

Based in Germany, Biotest’s microbiology business is expected to help EMD Millipore with its hygiene monitoring and ready-to-use media products for contamination detection.
