Genzyme CEO Termeer joins Aveo board
Outgoing Genzyme Corp. chairman, CEO and president Henri A. Termeer has been appointed to the board of directors for Aveo Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Cambridge company focused on cancer therapeutics.
Termeer has served as president and a director of Genzyme, acquired by Sanofi-aventis in a deal that closed last week, since 1983 and CEO since 1985. He was named chairman of its board since 1988. He also has served as a member of Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick’s Council of Economic Advisors and co-chair of the Leadership Council of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Collaborative. He is chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s board of directors, a board member of Abiomed Inc., a board member of MIT, a director of Massachusetts General Hospital, a board member of Partners HealthCare and a member of the Board of Fellows of Harvard Medical School.
