ATLANTA, June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Surgical Information Systems ("SIS"), a leader in perioperative information systems, announced that North Shore-LIJ Health System has extended its enterprise agreement with SIS by selecting SIS Anesthesia as its anesthesia documentation solution. The implementation will start at North Shore University Hospital and will continue at the other North Shore-LIJ Health Systems hospitals.
SIS' anesthesia information management system (AIMS), SIS Anesthesia, will be an integral part of North Shore's current perioperative system, including anesthesia as part of the single perioperative record. It delivers anesthesia documentation as well as anesthesia business intelligence, enabling hospital surgery and anesthesia documentation to reside on a single database and streamlining and simplifying documentation. North Shore will also use SIS Perfusion, an application for the documentation of the cardiac bypass procedure.
"As the only specialty anesthesia system featuring a shared database with a perioperative system, SIS Anesthesia supports continuity of care with changes in the perioperative record being reflected in the anesthesia record as well. The seamless integration and improved ease-of-use leads to a higher quality of patient care," said Dr. John Di Capua, Chairman of Anesthesiology at North Shore-LIJ and member of the Board of Directors at North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA). "This deepens our already outstanding relationship with SIS and enhances interoperability at one of the leading academic hospitals in the nation."
