Sectra Imtec AB, a Swedish firm with U.S. headquarters in Connecticut, has agreed to sell the bulk of its MicroDose mammography system for a potential $100 million to Dutch tech giant Royal Philips Electronics.

The deal calls for Philips to pay an upfront $81.7 million for the MicroDose mammography operations worldwide, except in Australia and New Zealand where Shelton-based Sectra will continue to sell and service the system under a separate agreement with Philips. In addition to the $81.7 million in cash, Sectra could earn up to $17.7 million based on meeting terms and conditions.
