Lake Region Medical to Showcase New and Emerging Technologies That Positions the Company as a Premier Development and Manufacturing Partner for Wire-Based Products at Cardiovascular Therapy Meeting

Fri, 11/04/2011 - 6:43am
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lake Region Medical, a global development and manufacturing partner to leading medical device companies, will highlight its original development manufacturing capabilities, services and technologies at the 23rd annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) meeting in San Francisco, CA, at the Moscone Center. Lake Region will provide an overview of the clinical applications for its products, turn-key outsourcing solutions and emerging areas of research and development for wire-based technologies. Several new research and development initiatives include electromechanical and sensor-based wire technologies that help to position Lake Region Medical at the forefront of emerging wire-based delivery platforms.

"As a leader in wire-based device technologies, Lake Region is committed to value-added research and development, using internally developed and licensed intellectual property, that addresses emerging clinical needs," said Jim Mellor, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Lake Region. "As always, we also continue to work in partnership with our medical device customers to meet their own contract development and manufacturing needs. With expertise in five key markets-Stimulation Therapy, Cardiovascular/Structural Heart, Peripheral Vascular, Neurovascular and Diagnostic Vascular Access-we look forward to conversations with our customers and clinicians at TCT about how we can add value at any stage of taking the product concept through to commercialization."

Lake Region Medical will focus on the following topics at TCT, booth # 1405:

NEW! Fortress™ Dielectic Coating

FORTRESS™ is a new coating technology that provides dielectric coating properties while ensuring superior durability, maximized flex-life, and reliable long-term electrical insulation. Lake Regions proprietary coating process and stringent manufacturing specifications ensure that the coated component is consistently surrounded with an insulating coating. This is particularly applicable to conductor wire coils where the FORTRESS Coating provides increased durability over the traditional extrusion or sheath-type insulation barriers that can have high stress fracture rates during coil winding.

SMART™ Wire Technologies Research & Development Initiative

SMART™ Wire Technologies - standing for Sensing, Measuring, Analyzing, Responding, and Transmitting - are part of Lake Regions strategic initiative to both partner with existing companies and to independently develop the capabilities to incorporate sensors and other electrically active components on its guidewire platforms to maximize the delivery of biometric information to clinicians while delivering Lake Region's proven guidewire handling and performance characteristics.

Advanced Core Wire Technology for Superior Torque Control

Side-by-side comparison of TWISTER™ against traditional torque technology

Lake Region will conduct live demonstrations that provide a side-by-side comparison of TWISTER Core Wire Technology against traditional torque technology. The demonstration includes:

  • An overview of guidewire construction.
  • Clinical considerations for guidewire selection and use.
  • Hands-on session with one of Lake Regions vascular models.
