Olympus is suing 19 former and current executives for damages the Japanese camera and medical equipment maker says it has suffered from a cover-up of investment losses.

Olympus Corp. says it filed a lawsuit in Tokyo District Court on Sunday after having received a report of an investigation Saturday about their suspected responsibility from an independent panel the Tokyo-based company had set up to look into the scandal.

Among those targeted in the lawsuit are Tsuyoshi Kikukawa, the former chairman and president of Olympus, and current president Shuichi Takayama.
