On Friday, iRobot Corp. (Nasdaq: IRBT) will unveil its most humanlike device yet: a 5-foot, 4-inch tall mobile robot which allows doctors to examine diagnostic data  in real time and interact with patients anywhere in the world.

IRobot and Santa Barbara, Calif.-based InTouch Health developed the RP-VITA over the last year since the two partnered last July, and will show it off at InTouch's Clinical Innovations Forum on July 26-28. It represents the culmination of 20 years of research and development at iRobot, and is the first practical use for its Ava mobile robotics platform, which the company hopes to use in retail and other industries, according to Glen Weinstein, senior vice president and general counsel at iRobot.
