FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug 10, 2012--The United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) has completed a Clinical Trial on the OxyBand Wound Dressing™ and will present results at the Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) held August 13 – 16 at the Harbor Beach Marriott Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. OxyBand Technologies™, along with the manufacturer of the dressing, Lighthouse for the Blind – St. Louis, will exhibit at MHSRS. Interested parties can visit booth #83 to learn about this innovative wound care dressing that provides oxygen to wounds and has been shown in clinical trials to heal wounds faster with significantly less pain and inflammation than placebo and standard care dressings.

OxyBand Technologies™ (website http://oxyband.com ) is the first company to package pure oxygen into a discrete wound dressing using its directionally permeable gas-emitting reservoir. This is the beginning of a line of innovative healing technologies that rely on targeted delivery of therapeutic gases through established clinical designs.

The USAISR clinical trial evaluated the efficacy of OxyBand Wound Dressing™ compared to the standard dressing. The collaboration between Oxyband and the U.S. Army began in 2004. OxyBand received a DOD Research Contract in 2008 to perform research and development and work with the USAISR. The USAISR Principal Investigators conducted the clinical trial at the USAISR.

Oxyband™ founder and CEO, Dr. Amie Franklin, has pioneered advanced wound care technologies since 2003 when she chose to dedicate her life to making the most effective healing devices available for wounded warriors. “Oxyband is grateful to the US Army Institute for Surgical Research and the burn center for conducting the clinical trial to compare OxyBand Wound Dressing to standard care. We are honored to have partnered with the U.S. Army USISR, a Center of Excellence for Battlefield Health, Trauma and Burn Research and Care. We look forward to the USISR presentation at MHSRS and believe the new findings will further demonstrate OxyBand civilian clinical trials results that showed OxyBand-treated wounds healed significantly faster with significantly less pain and inflammation without infection compared to placebo and standard care dressings.” OxyBand™ is FDA cleared, and the Oxyband Proprietary Wound Healing Dressing is the only ready-to-deploy dressing continuously delivering therapeutic pure oxygen to damaged tissue for up to 96 hours (4 days).

OxyBand Wound Dressings are available through McKesson-Medical Surgical, a major medical distributor dedicated to delivering vital medicines, medical supplies and information technologies that enable healthcare industries to provide patients better, safer care.
