New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft says he is looking to raise a “couple hundred million” dollars to take his Kraft Center for Community Health national. He made his comments to a lunchtime audience at the annual meeting of the national medical device lobbying group Advamed, which took place this week in Boston.
Kraft and his late wife Myra donated $20 million to launch the center in January 2011, when she was battling ovarian cancer. The center, located a Partners HealthCare, provides incentives for doctors to practice primary care in community health centers, by providing up to $50,000 to repay medical school loans.
Kraft told the medical device group that he gained a new understanding of the challenges within health care as his wife fought cancer.
