Health management firm Alere, Inc. (NYSE: ALR) reported its third quarter earnings Thursday (ended Sept. 30), revealing a net loss of $9.2 million, or $0.11 per share, down from the third quarter of 2011, when the company reported a $234.2 million net income, or $2.38 per share.
