AUSTIN, Texas & REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan 29, 2013--Avinger: WHAT: IMAGINE 2013 kicks off tomorrow in Austin bringing many of the globe’s top interventional cardiologists and vascular surgeons together to learn about the medical game-changing Ocelot System, a novel technology recently  FDA cleared, as well as future applications of OCT-guided therapies. Ocelot gives doctors, for the first time in history, a way to clearly see and navigate inside the tiny leg arteries of their patients that face Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD).

Without Ocelot, bypass surgeries or leg amputations are often the recommended medical solutions for people with PAD, a silent epidemic that impacts 30 million people globally. Ocelot, invented by California medical device company  Avinger, has already saved many patients from such dire circumstances. You can see some of their stories  here.

Avinger created IMAGINE 2013 to educate the physician population on the benefits of being able to see inside a patient’s artery during the interventional procedure. There will be live patient cases broadcast from Jackson, Mississippi and several insightful panel discussions throughout the week.

WHO: Ocelot’s inventor and Avinger CEO, Dr. John B. Simpson, will host doctors from around the world who are learning to use this first-ever OCT-guided technology from physicians who are experienced with Ocelot.
