Intermountain Healthcare Partners With Sotera@ Wireless
Sotera Wireless@, creator of the ViSi Mobile@ wireless patient monitoring system, announced today that Intermountain Healthcare will officially partner with the Company. Furthering this collaboration, Intermountain Healthcare executive vice president and chief financial officer Bert Zimmerli joins Sotera's board of directors.
Intermountain Healthcare, a proponent in the use of innovative technology for improved patient safety, is currently piloting the ViSi@ Mobile System in two post-surgical care units at its flagship hospital, Intermountain Medical Center, as well as its LDS hospital in Utah.
"Ingenious technology, such as the ViSi@ Mobile System, can revolutionize the quality of hospital care, create a better patient experience and enable clinicians to maintain vigilance without interruption," said Zimmerli. "We believe that Sotera is among those companies leading the transformation of healthcare and is committed to filling a significant unmet clinical need. We are very interested in working with organizations like Sotera that share our vision of providing higher quality care at a reduced cost." The FDA-approved ViSi@ Mobile System continuously monitors all core vital signs in a small, body-worn package - blood pressure, heart rate or pulse rate, electrocardiogram (ECG) or heart rhythm, blood oxygenation level, respiration rate and skin temperature - all with the monitoring accuracy typically found in intensive care units. The system is able to transmit patient vital sign information to stationary or mobile viewing / notification devices that clinicians can monitor remotely. A major component of the ViSi@ Mobile System is an effective alarm management system that notifies clinicians of unfavorable changes in a patient's vital signs, allowing for early intervention if needed.
The new groundbreaking technology is initially intended for general medical/surgical floor hospital patients. In the future the ViSi@ Mobile System will be expanded to cover higher acuity areas inside the hospital as well as outpatient areas (e.g. post-discharge monitoring).
