A schematic of normal and invasive cancer cells is shown. A more flexible cellular architecture may allow malignant cells to invade fluid-containing lung tissue. The authors measure this deformable state with the Deformability Cytometry technique. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Nov. 20, 2013, issue of Science Translational Medicine, published by AAAS. The paper, by Dr. H.T.K.
