FDA Commissioner, Dr. Hamburg Addresses Counterfeit Devices to WHA

On May 19, 2010, Dr. Margaret A. Hamburg, Commissioner of the FDA, gave remarks at the World Health Assembly Committee A. Her speech addressed the dangers of counterfeit, falsified, and substandard medical devices (and pharmaceuticals). She cited public health as being a "cornerstone" to combating this problem. Additionally, she pointed to the importance of stopping the manufacture and distribution of these dangerous products.
