TÃœV SÃœD Accredited to ISO 50001:2011
Why ISO 50001?
ISO 50001 is intended to assist companies in significantly reducing their energy consumption, thus cutting costs while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other negative environmental impacts. The standard is suitable for integration into several other management systems, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. One of the key requirements of ISO 50001 is that companies establish their "energy baseline" and make continuous improvements in their energy management and usage. The standard describes the requirements that organizations must fulfil in order to establish, implement, maintain, and improve an EnMS. Accredited third-party evaluation of an organization's EnMS provides independent verification of compliance to the requirements of the standard, and facilitates the identification of potential areas for additional energy savings.
Businesses across all industries and sectors face increasing energy costs and a growing emphasis on corporate environmental responsibility. Certification to ISO 50001 by TÃœV SÃœD America is a strategic way for companies to demonstrate their commitment to green initiatives and show customers and stakeholders that they share similar principles and values."The U.S. Department of Energy is launching financial initiatives aimed to incentivize companies to adopt these types of Energy Management programs," states Charles A. Clark, Jr., ISO 50001 Program Manager, TÃœV SÃœD America Inc. "The standard focuses on the procurement, analysis, and improvement of a business's energy consumption, which can easily equate to an immediate sizeable return, not to mention the longer-term return on investment of implementing and maintaining an effective EnMS. We are excited to provide this new service to our customers."
