Abiomed lands new insurance codes for Impella heart pumps

Cardiovascular pump maker Abiomed touts 3 new Category 1 Current Procedure Terminology codes for its Impella percutaneous heart pumps.

The American Medical Assn. granted medical device maker Abiomed's [1] (NSDQ:ABMD [2]) 3 new service codes for the Impella percutaneous heart pumps, effective January 2013.

The new Category I Current Procedure Terminology codes cover insertion, repositioning and removal of Impella percutaneous devices, according to a press release.
