Acquisition: GE Healthcare acquires U-Systems' breast ultrasound screening technology
GE Healthcare acquires ultrasound breast cancer screening devices maker U-Systems, which could help GE Healthcare expand its breast care portfolio from screening to monitoring.

Healthcare giant GE Healthcare [1] (NYSE:GE [2]) acquired U-Systems [3] and with it the 1st FDA-approved ultrasound-based dense-tissue mammogram adjunct, the Somo•v automated breast ultrasound.
The Somo•v ABUS is the only automated system in the U.S., Canada and 27 European Union countries indicated for use in combination with standard mammography for asymptomatic women with dense breast tissue.
The companies did not diclose the financial terms of the acquisition.
