MULTI-LAYER TUBING - POLYMER For customers who need visualization under X-Rays, such as angiographic catheters, Asahi Intecc may provide tubing with bismuth or barium stripes as a radiopaque, chemically resistant resin in a multi-layer tube. Multi-Layer Tubing – Polymer and Braided Reinforcement (Nylon, Tungsten, Stainless) Nylon, tungsten, or stainless braid can be braided over a lubricious, low-friction, drug resistant PTFE liner with a silver mandrel to provide torque response, kink and fluid pressure resistance (saline, blood, drug, chemical, nutrient). Pitch and pick count may be adjusted on the braid for customized flexibility, kink-resistance, and torque properties.

Asahi Intecc offers high speed rotation stainless steel miniature drive cables for devices, instruments, and mechanisms, requiring diameters less than 1/3” and as small as 0.020” (0.5mm). The Asahi Drive Cable is a multi-layer, multi-filar, stranded flexible shaft with high bi-directional torque transmission properties with minimal backlash or lag. The multi-stranded shaft may be laser welded and edm cut to short lengths for a smooth finish (1”) to 2m lengths depending on the application. A cannulated 3 layer version (flat wire torque coil) is also offered for applications in which material in which aspirated material is extracted through the lumen.

VARIABLE FLEXIBILITY POLYMER TUBING

Asahi Intecc-GMA offers multi-segmented flexibility on continuously extruded shafts which can potentially eliminate or significantly reduce material, labor, and manufacturing costs to fabricate small or large batches of variable flexibility polymer tubes. Asahi Intecc – GMA has estimated up to 3 times labor , manufacturing, and material cost savings and half the work time when extruding the one piece multi-flex polymer tube and comparing to the costs of extruding the multi-piece array of hand assembled polymer shafts. These tubings are often used for catheter delivery systems, in which a proximal push and distal tip floppiness is desired on one tube to for precise vascular positioning.

PTFE OVER THE MANDREL (THIN WALL PTFE)

For device manufacturers who wish to prototype with Asahi Intecc, or contract manufacturers who are considering outsourcing their entire device, we provide ultra-thin PTFE to the inside of braided shafts or torque components. Provided on a spool, PTFE is coated on the mandrel by a dipping process. The mandrel size ranges from 0.45mm to 2.30mm. The PTFE wall thickness (one side can range from 0.008mm to 0.012mm (0.00031” to 0.00047” or 8 to 12 microns)). The PTFE is chemically etched on catheter delivery systems, microcatheters, and other delivery systems, where an instrument or a guidewire passes through a PTFE coated lumen.
