MED-6671: LOW COEFFICIENT OF FRICTION SILICONE COATING FOR HEALTHCARE APPLICATIONS

Silicone elastomers inherently have a tendency for blocking (sticking to themselves by virtue of chemical affinity). Once cured, MED-6671 chemically bonds to the silicone elastomer substrate, mimicking its mechanical properties and covering this surface tack. The result is a smooth finish with a durable, yet flexible coating that resists abrasion from moving, sliding and rubbing parts.

Because it can be vulcanized at both high and low temperatures, this elastomer is particularly suitable for temperature-sensitive substrates or for use in environments with fluctuating temperatures.

Silicone Dipping

Dipping is a specialized process where a form is immersed into silicone and then withdrawn. This results in the thin film being cured. Dip coating is a process where the thin silicone film remains on the object. Other dip coating applications involve encapsulation and potting.
