The LC type optical fiber connector is about half the size of the SC type optical fiber connector. Borrowing features from the RJ 45 connector, the LC type optical fiber connector uses approximately 50 percent less space than the SC type. The connectors were designed for premise wiring applications. It uses an RJ 45 type latching that, when properly mated, produces an audible sound. Keying prevents rotational misalignment. LC type connectors can be used in LAN, MAN, and WAN applications.
