A unique two-layer extruded medical grade tubing has been developed that allows guidewires used in vascular procedures to be inserted into the tubing faster and more efficiently, thereby reducing labor cost. Called PEXglide, the tubing consists of an outer layer made of medical grade high density polyethylene and an inner layer made of a medical grade silicone-like polymer which reduces the coefficient of friction, resulting in easier insertionespecially in pre-coiled tubing. The product is designed primarily for guidewire dispenser tubing. This tubing houses the stainless steel or nitinol guidewires used in angioplasty, stent, and other vascular procedures.
