PolyMed composite materials are offered for a variety of medical applications, including laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures. PolyMed combines features of traditional metallics and thermoplastic materials. It is extremely rigid and provides tensile and compressive strengths similar to those of stainless steel (and significantly higher than any commercially available thermoplastic). This strength finally gives medical design engineers a tool that does not require a sheath over a device to protect against electrical connective capacitance. In fact, recent ISO 10993 testing has shown that PolyMed materials are perfectly suited for most surgical applications.
