Magnetic Rotary Encoders Meet Motion Control Needs of Medical OEMs

RLS magnetic angular/rotary encoders from Renishaw bring solid-state, no-wear reliability, high-speed and high-accuracy positioning, compact size, and application versatility to designers of surgical robots, medical scanners, and other advanced medical equipment. Essentially just a magnet and chip, the solid-state RLS encoders provide non-contact, wear-free, low-inertia operation for ultimate reliability. The encoders are available 7-bit to 13-bit models and industry standard absolute, incremental, or linear output formats. OEM designers can select models delivering high-resolution positioning speeds to over 30,000 rmp, measurement accuracies to 0.4°, temperature from -40°C to 125°C, and high resistance to shock vibration. Compact sealed versions are also available with protection to IP68 for harsh environments, including immersion applications (e.g., pumps and gearboxes).
