Bench Top Assembly System Equipped With Vision

A bench top system was constructed for a pressure sensor manufacture that both dispenses an adhesive then carefully places a single sensing chip inside an individual housing with the help of machine vision. In addition to locating both the chip and housing, the system places each chip to either a set pressure or position, based on the data gathered by the vision system. In operation, 48 chips are placed in a single waffle tray and three trays placed in a single pallet for processing. Each assembly is time and date stamped by the bench top system to ensure complete traceability. After the chips have been placed in their housings, and operator removes the assemblies for curing. Before installing the system, the company was performing everything manually. Since installing the new system, it has enjoyed a marked improvement in both quality and throughput.
