Gas Plasma System for Lubricious Coating
Tue, 04/06/2010 - 5:08am
This low pressure gas plasma system is designed for deposition of a lubricious, low coefficient of friction coating on bulk medical components. Tackiness or drag of rubber and elastomeric surfaces is significantly reduced and the coating also repels lint and other contaminants on silicone components. Coating thickness is typically under a micron and does not affect the physical or bulk properties of the material. The system is cleanroom compatible and available in a table-top version or with a free-standing enclosure to permit vacuum pump incorporation within the system cabinetry. A removable rotating drum mechanism tumbles the components during in situ pre-treatment and coating to ensure batch consistency.
