Rotary Encoders Available With Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel HousingsPosital's Magnetocode (MCD) absolute rotary encoders are available with heavy-duty stainless steel housings that make them ideal for use in harsh environments. The rugged housings and highly effective seals provide these devices with IP69K level of protection. Mounted on sturdy ball-bearings, the shaft can withstand mechanical forces of up to 300 N (67 pounds).

Posital MCD encoders use a highly reliable magnetic measurement technology that provides 12-bit resolution (4,096 steps per revolution). Multi-turn models are available with a range of up to 8,192 revolutions (13-bits). The internal rotation counter uses a unique self-powered technology that eliminates the need for backup batteries, further reducing maintenance requirements. These low-cost encoders are available in a simple SSI interface that features several user-defined parameters that simplify initial set-up. They are also available with the more sophisticated CANopen field bus interface, commonly used by mobile equipment manufacturers. An analog interface (4-20 mA or 0-10 V) is also available, making these encoders a highly-reliable alternative to potentiometers. DeviceNet and SAE J1939 interfaces will be announced in the near future.
