Non-Contact Laser Measurement
At booth E-5326, Beta LaserMike will showcase its BenchMike table-top system for fast, accurate, and repeatable measurement of parts. This laser measurement device does not touch the product, thereby eliminating part distortion and operator influence which can affect measurements. BenchMike can either be used in a Quality Control (QC) laboratory or on the plant floor to measure a range of part types and part dimensions. Dimension measurements include diameter, multiple ODs, TIR, taper, and part position. BenchMike is available in four different models and provides a measurement range of 0.001" to 2.0" with linearity as low as ±0.000020”.
Beta LaserMike will also highlight the advantages of its Cutting Tool Measurement System (CTMS). The CMTS is an easy-to-use, non-contact system for measuring effective cutting diameter of fluted cutting tools such as end mills, drill bits, step tools, reamers, and router bits, regardless of the number of flutes. By measuring the dimensional characteristics of a cutting tool before it cuts your part, you eliminate scrap that results from an oversized tool and rework resulting from an undersized tool. And, by identifying and eliminating tool run-out, tool lifetimes can be significantly improved. This is especially important for PCD tools, where even a small amount of run-out can dramatically shorten tool life.
The CTMS utilizes a unique rotary drive and “zero-error” carbide V-block fixture from Rollomatic SA (Switzerland), along with the proven measurement accuracy of a Z-Mike laser micrometer from Beta LaserMike. An adjustable slide allows the tool to be positioned along its length with the position displayed on-screen to a 0.0005 in. (0.0127 mm) resolution.
In addition to the BenchMike and CTMS systems, Beta LaserMike will exhibit its AccuNet solution -- comprehensive supervisory networking software for multi-gauge applications. It provides multi-axis, precision measurement of the diameter and ovality of parts.
