In a recent custom designed application, Pad Print Machinery of VT’s team of engineers worked closely with a medical device manufacturer to create a fully automated inline pad printing system. The challenge in this case was to integrate our KE13 printer to off-load multiple catheters directly from their existing production line onto our conveyor, print all six parts simultaneously and then unload them onto their existing off-load conveyor.
To reduce the total footprint of the system (saving valuable floor space) and maximize their ROI, a 90° rotational device was added to the pad bar allowing the tubular parts to be printed perpendicular to the machine. The servo controls and Window® based operating system on the KE Series printers allow job parameters to be stored and instantly recalled. These parameters include all print phases, plus print and cliché pauses. The stored values enable the operator to quickly change from one diameter tube to the next, reducing setup time.
