RapidFIRE: Squishy Skulls for Simulating Brain Surgery

Researchers at the University of Malaya, in Malaysia, have developed a unique, multi-material model to help train and better the practice of novice neurosurgeons.

With two components, the 3D-printed skull gives trainees the opportunity to see, feel, and even hear the experience of drilling into a patient’s skull.
