Kinetic Concepts Inc., a medical technology company, said Wednesday it received Food and Drug Administration clearance to sell its Prevena Incision Management system used for surgical procedures.
The product is a wound therapy device used to removing potentially infectious materials from incisions and protect surgical sites from infection.
Prevena has been available in Canada and Europe since spring 2010. Kinetic Concepts said the product will be available to hospitals in the U.S. in early July.
Kinetic Concepts, based in San Antonio, develops therapies and products for wound care and tissue regeneration.
