Siemens Healthcare has hired away Partners Healthcare CIO John Glaser to head up its global healthcare IT business, the company announced in a press release Friday afternoon. Glaser’s new title at the healthcare division of German electronics and electrical engineering giant Siemens AG (NYSE: SI) will be CEO of the division’s Health Services Business Unit.
Glaser’s tenure as CIO at Partners had lasted 15 years, beginning in 1995.
Siemens Healthcare produces medical imaging and laboratory diagnostics equipment, medical information technology and hearing aids. The division has 48,000 employees worldwide and posted a profit of about 1.5 billion euros on 11.9 billion in revenue in its fiscal 2009, which ended Sept. 30.
