Newton-based Anew Optics Inc. has pulled in $952,000 of a planned $2 million equity offering, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company, which does not yet have a website, appears to be involved in the development of an intraocular lens, made thin and lightweight to allow for more light transfer and greater comfort, according to a patent application from May assigned to Anew Optics.
The regulatory filing notes that the financing includes about $240,000 that will be used to pay the salaries of president and CEO Anna Hayes and the unnamed chief technology officer.
Hayes is listed on the May patent application as one of the inventors, along with Wayne Callahan, Paul Koch and Robert Kellan. Callahan is also listed as an executive officer of Anew Optics in the regualtory filing.
