Biospace med, a medical imaging firm based in Cambridge and Paris, has changed its name to EOS imaging to take advantage of its name recognition with its EOS orthopedic imaging system, the company announced today.

The EOS system, the company’s flagship product, allows full-body 2D and 3D imaging of patients using radiation doses that the company has said is 89 percent lower than those required for a standard CR (computed radiography) X-ray. It’s used largely in imaging related to degenerative diseases and bone and joint deformities. It uses software that reconstructs and models a patient’s bones from two simultaneous images, and so generates 3D measurements.
