Health insurer Humana Inc. said Tuesday it is adding 270 new positions to its Humana Cares unit.
Humana Cares, based in St. Petersburg, Fla., is the company's complex care management division. It focuses on patients with chronic disease, including heart and lung conditions.
The hiring comes ahead of the company's January launch of its new program, Humana Cares Chronic Condition Management. The new workers will serve 60,000 Humana commercial health plan and Medicare Advantage members across the nation.
Overall the company employs about 28,500 workers, according to Thomson.
Shares of Humana fell 41 cents to $52.19 in midday trading.
