Eye care company Alcon Inc. said Sunday its board has elected a new chairman to replace Cary Rayment.
Daniel Vasella, who is also chairman of the board of Novartis AG, will now take over, the company said. Vasella has served on Alcon's board since July 7, 2008, and Novartis became Alcon's majority owner after it bought a majority stake in the company from Nestle SA on Aug. 25.
Rayment will continue to serve on Alcon's board as its vice chairman.
Alcon is based in Hunenberg, Switzerland.
