Cytori Therapeutics Inc. on Thursday said it plans to sell common shares in a public offering.

The company, which makes products used in adult stem cell harvesting and research, did not detail the size or terms of the offering, which will be sold under an existing registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Jefferies & Co. is acting as sole book-running manager for the offering.

Shares of Cytori closed Thursday trading up 15 cents, or 3 percent, at $5.33, but dropped 69 cents, or 12.9 percent, to $4.70 in after-hours trading after the announcement of the offering.
