Medical device maker Electromed Inc. said Friday it settled a trademark lawsuit over the use of the name SmartVest for its breathing products.
Electromed did not disclose terms of the settlement but said it will be able to continue using the name SmartVest.
The lawsuits were brought by Hill-Rom Holdings Inc. companies: Hill-Rom Services Inc., Advanced Respiratory Inc., Hill-Rom Company Inc., and Hill-Rom Services Pte. Ltd.
Electromed markets the SmartVest Airway Clearance System, which is used to treat conditions that cause secretions to build up in the lungs. The system is designed to apply pressure to the chest that helps break up the secretions so patients can cough them out and breathe more easily.
