Health Management Associates acquired Wuesthoff Health System, which runs two hospitals in eastern Florida, for $152 million.
The hospital operator said Friday that Wuesthoff runs one hospital in Rockledge with 298 beds, and one in Melbourne with 115 beds. It said the deal is effective Friday. It said the Wuesthoff hospitals bring in approximately $290 million in net revenue per year.
Health Management Associates Inc. runs 60 hospitals and reported $1.25 billion in revenue in the second quarter. In midday trading, its shares lost 16 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $7.50.
