Medical imaging company MDS Inc. (TSX:MDS) (NYSE:MDZ)announced Tuesday it will make its long-awaited name change to Nordion Inc. on Nov. 1.
Along with the new name, the company will also change its stock ticker symbols to NDN on the Toronto Stock Exchange and NDZ on the big board in New York.
The switch reflects a change in focus by MDS, previously a diversified life sciences company which has sold most of its business units to concentrate on what was previously its MDS Nordion business. Nordion sells nuclear isotopes for medical imaging around the world.
Shareholders of MDS approved the name change last March.
MDS shares were unchanged at $11.21 at midday Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
