Health care services company Kindred Healthcare Inc. said Wednesday that it expects fourth-quarter profit to reach the upper end of its prior forecast for profit of 38 cents to 43 cents per share.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters on average expect it to report profit of about 40 cents per share.
For next fiscal year, the company said it expects income from continuing operations between $1.45 and $1.60 per share on revenue of about $4.8 billion. Analysts expect earnings of $1.45 per share on just under $4.58 billion in revenue in 2011.
Shares of Kindred rose 74 cents, or 4.2 percent, to $18.30 in afterhours trading after rising 47 cents, or 2.8 percent, to end regular trading at $17.56. The stock has traded between $11.50 and $20 over the last 52 weeks.
