Health information technology firm NaviNet has bought Prematics Inc, a provider of mobile health IT solutions for doctors. Cambridge-based NaviNet said the acquisition of Virginia-based Prematics would enable the company to extend its services to physicians using handheld devices. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The combined suite of products will enable doctors to send electronic prescriptions to pharmacies while in the examining room, and simultaneously receive both clinical and financial information, such as advice on generic substitutes, or estimates of patient’s co-pays or deductibles for certain services. NaviNet will integrate Prematics’ solutions with its Insurer Connect product, which allows doctors to bill several different health-care payers through a single portal.
